Moving to a new home? Then there will be a lot of work to do before you are finally settled down. Once the unpacking is done, you will have to adjust to your new surroundings. As newcomers, you will probably not know anyone in the area. Therefore, you will need to know the right numbers to call when you end up in a problematic situation. Here is a list of numbers all homeowners must have once they move in:

Local Emergency Numbers

You absolutely must have a list of local emergency numbers. Get the numbers for the local police station, the fire department and emergency medical centres. You should do this in addition to knowing the national numbers. Your locality may have private ambulance services or medical facilities emergency patients use. You should be aware of these numbers. Make sure the numbers are saved on the phones of everyone in the household. You should also have at least two print copies of the numbers in your home office and taped on to the refrigerator.

Plumber

It’s not uncommon for new homeowners to encounter unexpected drainage problems soon after moving in. These are prominent especially if you moved into an older home. So, you must have the number for one or two local plumbers in your phone. You should ideally have these written down before you move in.

Locksmith

You must have the numbers for the local commercial locksmith in the new area. You never know when you could be locked out of your car or home. These experiences could be especially harrowing when they occur in an area you are unfamiliar with. Therefore, don’t forget to do your research and have these numbers on your phone.

Local Repairmen

Your new residence will need more repairs that you expect. If you moved in the summer, the roof could leak or break during the winter. If you moved in the winter, you may face ventilation issues in the summer. To fix these problems, you will need to reply on local repairmen. So have numbers of some on your phone.

Numbers of Your Neighbours

The most important new numbers you have should be of your neighbours. You should be able to call them if you need help. Your neighbours will also know trustworthy plumbers, repairmen and mobile locksmith that you can rely on in the area. Also, your neighbours can immediately inform you if something happens at your home when you are not there.

Also, if you have children, you must have the numbers for their local schools and homeroom teachers. Don’t forget to include the number of your landlord and previous owners in your contact list as well.
