Although traditionally, most of us do not have a wide knowledge about breaking in to houses, it might be a good bit of information to have on you in case you are ever locked out of your own house. Every home owner has experienced being locked out of his own home at least once or twice in his lifetime and anyone who has ever been through this daunting experience will tell you just how stressful it really is. Some people however will surprise you by using their skills to break the locked of the house within minutes. It is therefore quite a useful skill to have. If however you have found yourself locked out with no skills at breaking in at all, here are a few things that you might want to try.
Call a professional
Of course, one of the first things that you will need to do is to call a professional 24 hour locksmith to come to your assistance. Having a professional do the breaking in or the unlocking for you is by far the best option however, this option may not always be available to you.
It would be useful for you to always have the contact number for a locksmith on hand at all times. Most people have the numbers for doctors and ambulances on their emergency contacts list but they never consider the possibility of ever having to break in to their own house, even though this situation is extremely common.
Look for any open windows
There is a big chance that you may have accidentally left one of your windows open. One of the first things that you will need to do is to start looking around your house for an open window. If the windows in your house do not have grills on them, then this is probably going to be your way in to your house.
If you do not manage to find a window open, then your next option is to try to actually pick your lock. You can use many different methods of picking your lock and surprisingly, none of these methods are too difficult. You will need to first try the credit card method of lock picking that usually works on spring bolt locks. Use your phone to look for a Youtube video that detail the way you break the lock and follow the instructions step by step to successfully open your door. If this does not work, you may need to borrow a screwdriver from a neighbor and try to remove your lock all together which is almost guaranteed to get you in to your house.
